GO TO THE MOVIES…

Out in cinemas now is Fire of Love – a new documentary that Twitter can’t seem to stop talking about. Narrated by the soothing voice of Miranda July against a backdrop of archival footage, this scorcher (literally) of a film follows the IRL story of bold explorers and French scientist power couple Katia and Maurice Krafft who dedicated their lives to roaming the planet before spoiler dying in a volcanic explosion. Not convinced? This awe-inspiring doc scooped up an award at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and boasts a 99% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes…

TIME TRAVEL WITH A FUTURE-FACING EXHIBITION

Selfridges has teamed up with Berlin’s Reference Festival for an immersive exhibition called Superfutures. Whether you decide to pop down to Oxford Street to see it in person, or opt for a digital viewing, you’ll find yourself exploring what Selfridges is describing as “visions for a positive, sustainable and forever expanding future… in which we can live better and brighter. A super future”. Curated by producer, vocalist, performance artist and independent art curator Agnes Gryczkowska, expert work will be showcased from cutting-edge names in the worlds of culture, fashion and music such as Gentle Monster, Katja Novitskova, Monira Al Qadiri, Ottolinger, Sevdaliza, and William Darrell. Make sure you don't miss Sevdaliza’s Ex Machina-esque femme bot Dahlia or Darrell’s kinetic flower sculptures.

Superfutures is running until 16 October at Selfridges London

BOP TO NEW KOKOROKO

Could We Be More, the debut album from eight-piece jazz and funk outfit Kokoroko dropped on Friday, and it’s safe to say it's going to be on repeat all week. The genre-melding and shape-shifting octet are redefining modern jazz, with the album looking back to the African roots of the genre, echoing the earth-shattering work of Nigerian composer, bandleader and Pan-Africanist Fela Kuti. Three years after making a name for themselves with their critically acclaimed 2019 debut EP, an album couldn’t have come soon enough.

CHECK OUT A CLIMATE-FRIENDLY CAPSULE COLLECTION

Global apparel collective PANGAIA has always been committed to sustainability, and now they’re taking it one step further with a new eco-friendly collection; their Re-color capsule. With the brand being known for their sustainable monochrome hoodies and tracksuits, the products in this new collection stay true to their design DNA – but with an ingenious twist. All the pieces have been dyed with RecycromTM, which transforms textile waste into dyes. This new process aims to reduce the brand’s material waste in efforts to move towards an even more circular system.

The new “Re-color” capsule is now available for purchase from PANGAIA.
