When you think of fashion week, what comes to mind? If you're thinking creativity, luxury, glamour, flashing lights, stunning models, influencers and bougie vibes, then you're not wrong. It's unlikely that in this visual hodgepodge you thought of bargains, best buys, discounts or thrift stores. But as of Feb 15, the UK has officially tipped into recession and delulu denial isn't an option any longer.

So if the fears of an overstretched cozzie livs is bringing on a menty b, we feel you. It’s uncanny that London Fashion Week A/W24 kicked off the day after the news of economic stress broke out. Against convenient rhetoric, fashion is not free from the politics and financial instability of the world. So this year, along with asking the hot and glamorous what they're wearing and who it's by, woo asked street style stars what their best spent £20 on fashion is.

From sneaky Notting Hill cops and pound for pound silver jewellery to lint rollers and scrap fabric, it's all here.

A bag, I never leave without a bag. I always have hand sanitiser, lotion, powder everything.

What are you wearing today?

I made my own dress, just bought the corset. I wanted something that I’m in comfortable but has great vibes. I don’t dress by trends, I’m a fashion designer so I try to keep it fresh and colourful.

Comfortable shoes. I have to take the underground after this so I have to be able to walk comfortably!

What's your best buy under £20 in fashion?

I don't buy a lot, but I think discarded or leftover fabric that I’ve made things from.

What are you wearing today?

I'm attending the Robyn Lynch show, she's a good friend of mine and does a lot of work around Irish identities so I thought I'll wear green. I make my own clothes so it's not a specific designer.

I usually dress for myself but within my job I have to think of trends. Men are wearing a lot of denim-inspired clothing, a lot of coordinates so I'm wearing that.

My Lucy & Yak bum bag, it's fun, it represents a really nice, diverse company.
